Can I workout with an open wound?
In most cases, exercise will benefit wound healing, and using a wound as a reason to not exercise may be an excuse that like most, will provide no benefit. Discuss exercise with your provider before starting or resuming an exercise regimen, but remember, a body in motion tends to stay in motion.
Can you shower with stitches?
After 48 hours, surgical wounds can get wet without increasing the risk of infection. After this time, you can get your stitches wet briefly with a light spray (such as in the shower), but they should not be soaked (for example, in the bath). Make sure you pat the area dry afterwards.
Can you ride a bike with stitches in your leg?
It’s a good idea to avoid physical activities that might re-open the wound. Children should avoid activities such as playing in sandpits or mud, riding bikes or swimming. After 24 hours, you can wash the sutured area gently and quickly, either in a sink or in the shower. Carefully pat the stitches dry.
